Moorgreen Colts Football Club
In 1985 a local man called Dave Gibson created an under 11’s football team in order to provide football for children in the Eastwood and District area. At that time the sports and social club of Moorgreen Colliery’s workshop helped fund the first season with kit and equipment, this therefore led the group of footballers to be named after the Colliery thus creating the very first Moorgreen Colts football team.
During the mid 1990’s Moorgreen Colts F.C’s new home became Birnam Park which is situated just off the A610 Eastwood and Kimberley by-pass. This is where our home matches and summer training takes place.
The Club has continued to grow year on year and 25 years later boasts approximately 150 members at 12 age groups, from the mini tots academy for 3 and 4 year olds to an under 15’s team. We also have a girls under 12’s team.
In 2006 we became an FA Charter Standard Club, which means the Club has met certain criteria laid down by the FA to provide a safe environment for children under the age of 16 to take part in all aspects of football. The Club has adopted the FA’s codes of conduct and prides itself on high levels of discipline from the coaches, parents and players involved.
We are a non-profit making Club which is run on a completely voluntary basis by parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles etc.
At present we are affiliated to The Young Elizabethan Football League, The Mansfield Youth League, Notts Girls and Ladies League and The Notts Youth Football League. We play on Saturday mornings, Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings.
